The Magpies Mackay and District Obedience Club is a great opportunity for your business to promote your goods and services to our members and competitors attending local training and events and travelling to participate in dog sports trials and weekend workshops.

We are the only community recreational club in Mackay offering affordable dog obedience training and dog sports with approximately 230+ members each year.   Our members are passionate dog lovers.  Everyday pet owners, knowledgeable breeders, experienced trainers and talented dog sport handlers all have the one thing in common – our love of dogs.

Our club is currently located at Magpies Sporting Club, however we are relocating at the end of 2024.  The grounds are used 5 days per week during the peak training and competition season. Our club runs a variety of activities for the dog enthusiasts with a range of dog sports (agility, rally, obedience, tracking, scent work, tricks and tracking).

Our most popular activity is our weekly dog obedience classes with up to 40 dogs and their handlers learning the basics of good canine care and obedience. Some of our members also takepart in further training or commencing their journey into many of our other activities and one of our volunteers and become part of the club’s future.

Members are always on the lookout for what is best for their dogs; diet and nutrition, healthcare, toys, treats and grooming products to name a few.  Of course, we like to look after ourselves too.

The club is the venue for 8 weekends of competitions. A weekend dog sports trial running on a Saturday will attract up to 40-50 people.  Our dog sports trials are growing in popularity as people see the benefits of training and keeping their dog active. Dog sports trials inject supports the local Mackay economy through accommodation, meals, fuel, camping and other miscellaneous spending.

With a very limited supply of local judges, we regularly fly/transport judges into Mackay from around Queensland or interstate.   Judges and competitors from time to time extend their stay in the Mackay region after attending a trial visiting family and traveling around the region.

Our members compete in Dog Sports regularly traveling up and down the coast to attend trials. Members travel between 1,000 to 5,000 km a year to attend events.

Contact with our members is important with updates on our Facebook page, which has 1800 followers.   Our website is the first point of contact for most of our dog community who are looking to join our club and commence dog training classes.   We accept up to 25 new members each month during our training year from February through to November so this is also a great way to promote our club and our sponsors.

The purchase of an IN KIND sponsorship can be made as follows:

1.      Gifts for 1st Place Winners ($200 – 20 prizes @$10 each)

2.      Catering ($100 for purchase of prepared meals)

3.      Gift Vouchers for Judges Gifts ($100 for 2 gift vouchers)

4.      Donation of a sum towards event costs ie:  soft drinks, grocery items and food items

The Sponsors & Business Directory has the single purpose of promoting your services to the wider Mackay Dog community.  This provides you with the best opportunity for being able to connect with new customers.

Without sponsorship, the Club would simply not exist.  Nonetheless, sponsorship should be a 2-way street. Your invaluable ongoing support should be rewarded with your business being promoted at every possible opportunity.  This directory will assist with that aim.
